00Welcome

Thank you for choosing the Luminus Lighttech LU-400 Hybrid — a compact beam/spot/wash hybrid moving head with CMY colour mixing, colour wheel, rotating and fixed gobos, two prisms, frost and zoom.

This document describes commissioning, operation, care and troubleshooting of the fixture. Read this manual — especially the Safety Instructions chapter — completely before first use, and keep it together with the fixture. If the fixture is passed on to a third party, this manual must be included.

0.2Intended use

The LU-400 Hybrid is built to IP20 for indoor use — stages, clubs, studios and touring setups. It is not suitable for humid or excessively dusty environments; keep the fixture clean and service it roughly every three months.

0.3Scope of delivery

Check the package contents for completeness and transport damage after unpacking.

Chapter 01

01Safety Instructions

Read this chapter completely before first use. Damage resulting from failure to observe these instructions is excluded from the warranty.

Risk of fatal electric shock Only qualified professionals may install, operate and repair this fixture — always strictly in accordance with this manual. Electrical connection must only be carried out by qualified installers. Each fixture must be properly earthed.
Before opening Fully disconnect the fixture from mains power before opening any cover. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.

03Power & DMX Connection

3.1Power connection

If the external cable is damaged, it must be replaced with a cable of the type specified by the manufacturer or its service agent. The mains voltage used must match the voltage indicated on the rating label and must be protected by overload/leakage protection. Do not connect too many fixtures to a single power cable.

3.2DMX512 connection

Connect fixtures exclusively in series (not in parallel) via 3-pin XLR cables: DMX OUT of the previous fixture to DMX IN of the next. Each fixture has its own address code, set via the control panel.

RDM note RDM (Remote Device Management) extends the DMX512-A protocol over the bidirectional RS-485 bus. RDM operation requires an RDM-capable controller; a simple one-way signal amplifier in the chain blocks RDM feedback data.

04Operating Modes & Control Panel

4.1Operating modes

Master/slave selection (outside DMX mode)

Note Scene mode is suitable for single-fixture use or small quantities: only a fixed scene needs to be output, or a simple program run, without a console. If the light source is a bulb, wait 10 minutes before switching the bulb off.

4.2Display & panel settings

The fixture supports English, German and Chinese as well as mirrored display. The touchscreen provides the following settings:

Touch calibration Do not enter the calibration page under normal circumstances. Only use it when touch detection is demonstrably faulty; if the touchscreen itself is damaged, disable touch instead.

05Scene Mode

In scene-editing mode the fixture does not receive DMX console data — edited values are reflected on the fixture immediately. Up to 10 scenes can be stored.

Reset behaviour in scenes If the reset channel is triggered within a scene, the fixture performs the reset; afterward that channel's value automatically resets to prevent repeated resets.
